Treasure Hunts
What is a Treasure Hunt? Check this out…
Recently a group of us hit the streets to do a ‘Treasure Hunt’. No, we did not go looking for Easter eggs and sweets! Our version of ‘Treasure Hunt’ was to first wait on God for specific words of knowledge or prophetic pictures about people, and then go out into the streets of Kloof and find the people that God had showed us.
One of the pictures that God gave us was of a woman wearing a blouse with red flowers on it, and a word of knowledge that she had bone problems. Later while we were walking around Kloof, we spotted a woman who matched this description. We went up to her and said that we’d had a vision about her, that God loved her and wanted to bless her. We then asked her if she had any bone problems. She immediately responded that she had – the bones in her back and chest were giving her constant pain. We then prayed for her – the result was that the presence of God came on her and she received a lot of healing then and there. It was not complete, but we trust that God is continuing this work as we speak.
God met up with that woman out in the streets. Her life was changed in some way by Jesus Christ. I was amazed by the simplicity of it all – none of us who went out considered ourselves to be great and anointed evangelists. We were really just a bunch of naïve and nervous young guys listening to what the Father wanted to do, then being obedient to his voice, and experiencing his faithfulness by bringing healing and love to the woman. God did the hard work, we just listened to him!
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” (1 Cor 4: 20). I’m convinced that there has to be more to Christianity than just living a life of good morals. I don’t find that too appealing to be honest. Our faith in Jesus becomes real and alive when we start being obedient to his voice and acting on it! Risking for God, trusting in the truth of his Word that he does heal the sick, cast out demons, raise the dead, restore the blind and bind up the broken hearted. He does really want to be with his people and pour his love on us and display his grace to us. What a privilege that he invites us to be a part of his amazing plans? God does confirm his Word by signs and wonders (Mk 16: 20). It’s when we step out in faith that we will see this truth for ourselves.
We will be going out on the streets on a regular basis, so join us on the next one. Contact Angie Steyn for more details – angie.joy@gmail.com
